How to Use Grammarly in WordPress to Improve Content

Looking to Enhance the Quality of Your Content? Try Grammarly for WordPress!

If you’re aiming to boost your writing quality, Grammarly is a fantastic tool to consider. It’s a widely-used browser extension that helps you catch grammatical errors and typos before your content reaches an editor—or worse, your readers.

In this guide, I’ll show you how to install Grammarly’s Google Chrome extension and how it works with WordPress.

What Does Grammarly Do?

Grammarly is a free, online tool that checks your writing for grammar and spelling errors across multiple web browsers. It uses advanced AI to spot common mistakes, including issues with subject-verb agreement, article use, modifier placement, spelling errors, and irregular verb conjugations.

Beyond just catching errors, Grammarly can also suggest synonyms to enhance the readability and overall quality of your writing.

What Is the Grammarly Extension?

The Grammarly extension scans everything you write in your browser for spelling and grammar errors. This includes content for posts and pages in WordPress.

Grammarly is well-regarded and works with several browsers, including Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Edge.

In addition to the browser extension, Grammarly offers a downloadable version where you can drag and drop documents for proofreading by its AI.

Whether you’re working on blog posts, social media updates, or long Reddit threads, Grammarly can help you avoid simple mistakes and improve your writing.

The basic version is free, but there’s also a Pro version available if you want additional features.

Installing Grammarly on Google Chrome

While Grammarly can be added to other browsers, this guide will focus on Google Chrome, the most popular web browser with a 63% market share.

To get started, visit the Grammarly extension page and click the “Add to Chrome” button.

After you click the “Add to Chrome” button, a popup will appear showing you what the extension can do. Click on “Add Extension” to proceed.

A new tab will open, directing you to the Grammarly website. Here, you can sign up for a free account to access all the basic features of the extension. Just enter your email address, or you can sign up using the “Continue with Facebook” or “Continue with Google” options.

Once you’ve completed these steps, your Grammarly Chrome extension is ready to use!

Using Grammarly in WordPress

With Grammarly installed, it will automatically work in your Chrome browser, acting as a spell checker for almost any text field.

To use Grammarly in WordPress, go to your website and open an existing page or post, or create a new one.

You’ll know Grammarly is active when you see its icon in the text area. If the icon is green, your content is free of errors. If it’s red, Grammarly has detected mistakes.

When the icon is red, it will show a number indicating the total errors found.

When Grammarly detects a mistake, it will underline the word with a red line.

Hover over the underlined word, and Grammarly will explain what it thinks is wrong and suggest a correction.

You can click on the suggestion to make the correction automatically. If you believe Grammarly’s suggestion isn’t right, you can click “Ignore.” Sometimes, Grammarly might be incorrect due to various reasons, so it’s important to use your own judgment as well

This tool can help you review your website’s content, fixing errors and improving quality.

Grammarly Is Not Always Perfect

Despite advances in grammar and spell checkers, Grammarly isn’t flawless. If Grammarly flags something as a mistake, it’s not always wrong, but it’s not always right either.

For example, Grammarly might flag unique names or phrases as typos. Take the name of a plugin like “Chessgame Shizzle”—Grammarly might mark “Chessgame” as a typo because it lacks a space, even though it’s the correct name.

Grammarly can also misinterpret phrasing, leading to errors even when the text is grammatically correct. The tool is a helpful aid, but your own judgment is crucial in determining what’s accurate.

Which browser did you use to add the Grammarly extension? How has Grammarly helped you with your writing?
